Forbidden Love: I Know Why [Ch. 6]“I know now.” Gabriel whispers, sitting up straighter against the tree.Forbidden Love: I Know Why [Ch. 6] by Ethereal919
I take my gaze off of the sparkling river and look down at the boy. “Know what?”
“I know why you reacted the way you did when I told you the date.” I’m a little surprised he wants to talk about this when he just lost his parents, “And why that... device is so... strange. And why you’re dressed so differently. It’s because you’re not from this place... or time, isn’t it?”
“Yeah but you’re not actually believing that, are you?”
“Well I’m not seeing any other explanation for anything about you, or that device.”
I pull out my phone and slide past the lock screen. “Okay, you wanna know something?” I point at the ninety-one percent beside the battery icon in the top corner. “When this number reaches zero, all that’s left of my world, my time, will be gone, except a dead phone with no w

“What’s the date?” I burst out.
“Um... July 4 I think?”
My heart skips another beat as I realize he’s not lying, and the fact that he didn’t see the date on the screen yet which was the same date he said, just seems to prove it further. “Please tell me this is just a d- dream....” I say, almost whispering.
Gabriel moves closer and holds my hand. “It’s not a dream... but please tell me what’s wrong.” He stares at me, worriedly.
“I can’t... not now...” I say, taking a deep breath and calming down the best I can at the moment. “Can we go find Luke now?”
He nods, but clearly hesitant about stopping there.
The rest of the way was mostly silent. We stopped at a section of road that goes along the side of a river, the sun sparkling off the water. “This is where we found you.” He

“He’s going away for a while...”
“When’s he coming back?”
“I don’t know, sweetheart.”
My eyes snap open, a rough wooden ceiling above me. I quickly sit up, confusion and panic flooding through me as I look around at the rustic interior of the room I’m in. The floor is worn dark wooden planks, the walls also being made out of simple wood. Two small clear glass windows sit on two of the walls, wooden shutters on the outside partly closed but open enough for sun to get in, a closed door on the other wall.
The door suddenly scrapes open, causing me to jump. A hazel eyed boy with mussed up brown hair who looks a few years younger than me freezes in the doorway, holding a varnished clay mug. “Hello.” I say softly, smiling, trying not to give a bad first impression, even considering the circumstances I’m waking up to.
“H- Hi.” He slowly walks over

“Good... Now let’s do what we as humans do best. Make the impossible, possible.”
“No problem with that sir.”
“Luke, are you almost ready?”
“Okay and remember use the bathroom before we go.”
“Yeah I did.” He comes out of his bedroom dressed in a t-shirt and swimming shorts, barefoot.
“Alright ready for the beach?”
He slips on his sneakers and we leave the house, the same intense heat as yesterday hitting us.
“Can I ride shotgun?”
“Hmm... okay, Master Chief gets to ride shotgun.” I say, randomly deciding to use the main character from Halo.
“And we can fight some covenant on our way there!”
“Those aliens that took over the future Earth? Let’s hope not.” I say, chuckling, as we both get in and I start up the car.
Moon Light Beach is about a thirty minute drive out of the city once you g
